About Simon Kenny | Art Collection
Simon was in born in Dublin, Ireland in 1976 and found a love for art at a young age. He acquired artist techniques and preferences which is used heavily within his works of art. He uses brush and palette knife work with subtle under-painting and graduating alternations in colour.
Press coverage of his art work has gained him national and international attention. His style is best described as ‘lyrical abstraction’; characterised as a ‘radical Turner’. In recent press coverage he has attracted significant attention for his growing collection of ‘colour burst’ paintings.
What is Lyrical Abstraction?
Lyrical Abstraction relates to a district trend in Post-war Modernist paintings. Starting in the late 1940's with European Abstraction Lyrique that was born in Paris. It is a form of art where the artist does not try to replicate visual realities. Instead, the artist displays emotions in shapes, colours and forms, manifesting the emotion through the art.
