London Row Gallery is proud to present Chris Williamson to our portfolio of artists. Chris creates charming original oil paintings that warm the soul with delight and intrigue. All of his work feature his two characters, a walker and his dog as they embark on advantures and travels from the coast, rolling countryside and street scenes. We have a stunning collection of Chris's work as well as working closely with the artist for personalised commissions.
Chris a local artist from Bedfordshire, grew up with an interest in cartooning and sites artists such as Paul Sample, Gray Jolliffe and Ralph Steadman as having an early influence. More recently Chris has been inspired by artists such as Gary Bunt and Sam Toft.
"I have been interested in drawing for most of my life and always keep sketchbooks to hand in case something just captures my interest,  I can keep that moment on paper to work up when I get back to my studio where I like to paint in oil.  My paintings were originally inspired by a chap in the village who would walk his little Jack Russel every day and always seemed to wear the same coat and pair of trousers no matter the weather which would make me chuckle!"

This idea grew and has now become Chris’s trademark style, all now featuring a gaunt owner and his faithful Jack Russell (Barton Darcy), the paintings all come with humorous 'ditties’, small four line poems about the world as the dog sees it.
"These began around ten years ago. I would think of a title and annotate the sketches. It just evolved really. I like to give people a grin if possible".

Having exhibited in Herts, Beds, Bucks and London, Chris’s original works are highly collectable and he is now busy working on the new escapades and adventures of his two unlikely heroes.
